Although you have finished the class material, you work as an instructor and grader begins in earnest now. In order for the students to complete their work, they will need to complete all the assignments associated with the course, including their ministry projects, exegetical projects, and other assignments you have given to them during the course of this module. Your ability to determine each student’s overall grade is, of course, conditioned on them turning their materials in to you, and your scoring them according to scale. Regarding late work, you will need to use discretion. If you set no standard for when work is due, students will stretch out their assignments indefinitely. If you are too rigid, you will overlook legitimate excuses that students may have. It is important to make some determination about late work; if you choose to dock students of points, it may result in letter grade changes. You may also elect to give some students an “Incomplete” until the work is finished. However you adopt your standard regarding their work, remember that our courses are not primarily about the grades that students receive, but the spiritual nourishment and training these courses provide. Also, however, remember that helping our students strive for excellence is an integral part of our instruction.
