5. The blood of Christ and the word of their testimony, Rev. 12.10-11
Mission is nothing less than the insertion of God’s shock troops into the enemy territory of the devil. Satanic opposition to Christ’s victory and authority will be strong and vicious; only those commissioned with his sovereign Word and kingdom authority can stand in the evil day, Eph. 6.10-18.
F. Soon, God’s rule will consummate in the Age to Come at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, Rom. 16.20.
IV. Implications of Mission as the War of the Spheres
2
A. God’s rule over his universe is now being reasserted in the person of Jesus Christ.
1. Jesus of Nazareth is the prophesied Messiah, who has been charged with the responsibility to restore God’s rule in the universe, John 1.41-45; Matt. 28.18.
2. As a result of his obedience and death, he has been exalted to the Father’s right hand, as Lord over all, Phil. 2.9-11; Eph. 1.20-23; Phil. 3.20-21.
3. As Lord of all, he is the Lord of the harvest (of mission), and is leading his people to victory all over the world as they declare his glory to the nations, Acts 1.8; Matt. 9.35-38; Matt. 28.18-20.
