1. The condition of the covenant and the fourfold blessing, Gen. 12.1-3,

a. Condition: leave your country, kindred, and father’s house, and go to the land that I show you , Gen. 12.1

b. Blessing

(1) I will make of you a great nation.

(2) I will bless you and make your name great.

(3) I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.

(4) In you all the families of the earth will be blessed.

2. Promise was renewed with Abraham, along with the promise of a son and with a legacy of people too numerous to count, Gen. 15.4-6.

3. Fourteen years after the covenant was made it was affirmed again, confirmed by a change of Abraham’s name and the establishment of circumcision as a sign of accepting the covenant, Gen. 17.1-10.

4. Affirmed after the test of Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice Isaac at God’s command, Gen. 22.16-18

B. The Promise Confirmed in the Patriarchs

2. Confirmed with Jacob, Gen. 28.13-14
