2. God gives to his Church the shepherds she needs to see her members grow unto maturity in Christ.

3. The pastoral ministry grows directly out of an understanding of the Lord’s shepherding role of his people, and Jesus’s identity as the Good Shepherd.

4. Pastoral ministry is largely a matter of competent, compassionate nourishment and care for disciples, not formal training or governmental structure.

1. To teach and preach the Word of God , 1 Thess. 5.12-13

2. To lead the pastoral team as they counsel and care for the members of the flock

3. To administer the sacraments , 1 Cor. 11.23-26

4. To comfort the bereaved during the death of loved ones (officiate at funerals), Rom. 12.15

5. To make ready those who are preparing for marriage (i.e., officiate at marriages), Heb. 13.4

6. To equip and disciple for the work of the ministry, Eph. 4.11-12
