3. Criteria for Jewish elders

a. Usually a person of advanced years

b. A person of prominence and reputation within his representative clan

c. A person who functions as a colleague and partner with other leaders

d. A person of significant authority to represent and rule within the community: to act as judges who applied the law of God at the gate, the place where disputes and trials were settled
