As Daniel’s father, I have personally witnessed for years now the community to which he belongs, a wonderfully creative and free-spirited association of artists, musicians, and others devoted to the principles he spoke of within this tract. His brother, Matthew, and sister, Joanna, like him, also have been shaped by the ethos of the DIY punk community, which boasts some of the kindest, most generous young people I have ever met. What has struck me over the years of being exposed to that community is their elevation and celebration of the notion of freedom in their midst.
