“Where Was He Then?”

In a Sunday School class speaking of the suffering of the Jewish people when they were taken into captivity by the nations of Assyria and Babylon, one of the teens asks the question, “We always talk about God being present with us, and loving us and everything, but if God was present with his people and cared for them, then why did he allow his own people to be hurt and mistreated like that?
