As you review these last questions, make sure that you remind the students of this ever-present need to receive the revelation of God as he gives it, and not as we want to hear it.

Remember Jesus’ rebuke of Peter at Caesarea Philippi:

Matt. 16.21-23 - “From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. [22] And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, ‘Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.’ [23] But he turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.’” Through the case studies in this lesson, attempt to help the students grapple with the notion of God’s wrath and the various ways that people in the world and the Church today are conceiving it. As they learn more and more what the Scriptures teach in regard to the person of God the Father Almighty, they will have to grow in their ability to engage and refute the different ideas of God which are out of sync with his own self revelation in the Scriptures. While the tendency is present for many to think that the doctrine of God is not practical, nothing could be further from the truth. These cases were designed to help your students come to terms with contemporary perspectives about God and his wrath, and the way in which they process the questions and the answers they give will have great impact on the effect of their ministries in the future. Congratulations, you have mentored the module on God the Father, but you haven’t completed your task just yet! Your work as an instructor and grader begins in earnest now.
