God as the Creator: The Providence of God

Segment 1: Nicene Affirmation of God the Father Almighty

Rev. Dr. Don L. Davis

God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, is sovereign over all that he has made, is the source of all life everywhere, and sustains all things by his work through Jesus Christ. All that God does he does in order that his name might be exalted and glorified throughout all heaven and earth. Our objective for this segment, Nicene Affirmation of God the Father Almighty is to enable you to see that: • The God and Father of our Lord Jesus, the Father Almighty, is the supreme authority and providential ruler over all creation and history. • The fact that God is a God of “providence” means that he “works out his sovereign will in the universe whereby all events are disposed by him to fulfill his purposes for himself and his creation for good.” • As Lord and Maker, we will see that the Father is Sovereign over all, the Source of all, and the Sustainer of all through his Son, Jesus Christ. • God directs and moves all things in such a way as to line up everything with his will for himself, all done for his glory and honor.
