B. Implications of God’s personality

1. Relationship is intrinsic to the nature of God the Father, John 17.25.

2. God is not an object or a force (like a meteor or electricity); to be made in God’s image is to be both personal and relational (cf. Gen. 1.26-27).

3. God is an end in himself; we relate to him not for what we get out of him but because of who he is.

4. Eternal life is not merely an ethic or a religion, but a new relationship with God through Jesus Christ, John 17.3.
