These questions are designed to help you review and discuss the truths that were presented concerning the baptism in the Holy Spirit in our last segment “The Powerful Presence of the Holy Spirit (Part One).” Please take as much time as you have available to answer these and other questions that the video brought out. Be clear and concise in your answers, and where possible, support with Scripture! 1. The Scriptures sometimes speak of the baptism in the Holy Spirit primarily in terms of God’s presence and, at other times, primarily in terms of God’s power. How would you answer a person who said that it was possible to be a Christian but not yet have the presence of the Holy Spirit?

This lesson focuses on the ways that the Holy Spirit brings us into the body of Christ and prepares us to function as God’s people in the world. Regeneration is the work of the Holy Spirit that causes us to be “born again.” Through regeneration, the Holy Spirit changes the inside of a person so that they are no longer controlled by a sinful nature but instead have a brand new spirit inside them that is created in the image of Christ. Regeneration is a free gift of God that cannot be earned by good works or human effort. Just as life came to us from our parents without us doing anything to earn or deserve it, so regeneration comes as a free gift fromGod that can only be received by faith. The regenerating work of the Holy Spirit makes us alive but not mature. Just as human birth is followed by the need for growth toward maturity, so spiritual birth is also followed by the need to grow up in Christ.
