2. Holiness

a. The Church of Jesus Christ is the new temple of God with each member being a living stone (1 Pet. 2.5).

b. Having been sprinkled with and purified by the blood of Christ (Hebrews 9 and 10), we are now able to experience the living presence of the HOLY Spirit.

c. Like the Old Testament temple, the Church of God (corporately) and each of its members (individually) must be a place of holiness (Heb. 12).

Conclusion

» The Holy Spirit “Bestows Gifts” that empower God’s people to build up the Church and accomplish his mission in the world. These gifts are the gracious power of God at work among us. » The Holy Spirit “Indwells” believers so that the living presence of God the Father and God the Son are brought into their lives. Through the Spirit’s indwelling, the Church becomes a temple of the Living God.
