Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours
Every pastor eventually is asked the following question. “How do I know that I have eternal life?” The person asking the question may be a brand new believer but could be someone who has been a church member for many years. Usually they are struggling with attacks by Satan that can include everything from doubts, inner accusations, to struggles with besetting sins. Howwould you answer that question?
The Holy Spirit is constantly at work to prepare God’s people for works of service and witness. In this lesson we spoke about the way in which the Spirit qualifies them for service/witness by setting them apart and conforming them to the image of Christ (sanctification). We explored the way the Spirit empowers them for service/witness by manifesting his power through them (bestowing spiritual gifts). And finally, we spoke about the way in which the Spirit enables God’s people to persevere in service/witness by sealing them and providing them with the assurance of God’s presence that allows them to continue on in the face of doubts and uncertainty.

You will be responsible to now apply the insights of your module in a practicum that you and your mentor agree to. The ramifications of doctrines concerning the person and work of the Holy Spirit are numerous and rich: think of all the ways that this teaching can influence your devotional life, your prayers, your response to your church, your attitude at work, and on and on and on. What is significant is that you seek to correlate this teaching with your life, work, and ministry. The ministry project is designed for this, and in the next days you will have the opportunity to share these insights in real-life, actual ministry environments. Pray that God will give you insight into his ways as you share your insights in your projects.
