Sanctification is the process by which the regenerate gradually attain to moral and spiritual perfection through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in their hearts. It continues throughout the earthly life, and is accomplished by the use of all ordinary means of grace, and particularly by the Word of God.

We can speak about Christlikeness as both an inward and an outward reality in the life of the Christian. Outwardly Christlikeness is seen in following Christ by adhering to his teaching and example. Inwardly, Christlikeness is seen in the fact that our inner attitudes and values conform to his own. [ These are not two separate ways of following Christ but are rather two sides of the same coin. No person can claim to have the attitudes of Christ who does not adhere to his teachings and example (John 14.23; Luke 9.23-24). Likewise, the person who outwardly conforms to the teaching but is not
