Behold! I Am Making Everything New!

One of the most widely used words in advertising is the word NEW. Can you name some examples of commercials or products that use this word to sell merchandise? Why is this such an appealing and powerful word? The Scriptures teach the ironic truth that our God, who is known as the “Ancient of Days” (Dan. 7.9), is constantly involved in newness, renewal, and new things. And this is especially true of the works attributed to God the Holy Spirit. In fact the whole Christian life can be described as being made new by the Spirit so that we can live lives full of newness in Christ. As Paul says in Romans 7.6, “But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve not under the old written code but in the new life of the Spirit.” How have you personally experienced the newness of life that the Spirit brings?
