II. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit: Areas of General Agreement*
* These are things that Christians agree are done by and through the Holy Spirit even in those traditions that reserve the term “baptism in the Holy Spirit” for another aspect of the Spirit’s work.
A. We receive the Holy Spirit at the moment of salvation (Rom. 8.9; 1 Cor. 12.13).
B. Spirit baptism is a joint work of God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, Matt. 3.11.
C. We are baptized ( baptizo - to be immersed or submerged) in the Holy Spirit so that the Spirit can do his work of connecting us to Christ and his Church.

c. The word fellowship is from the Greek word koinonia which can also be translated communion. It is the activity that makes community, that connects and unites people who share a common bond.

3. The connecting element of Spirit baptism is confirmed in the New Testament Scriptures.
