What is important to emphasize with the students in this segment is the Nicene’s creedal language of Jesus’ preexistence before he came to earth in the Incarnation.

This section, Summary of Key Concepts , is an opportunity for you and the students to find in clear, listed form the central and fundamental truths of the presentations in the previous sections. Understanding these critical concepts are essential to mastering both the biblical, theological, historical, and creedal data that your students have covered. They ought to, therefore, hold a central place in your review of the material with the students, and be the key focus as you rehearse both the facts and details of the video sessions in your guided discussion with the students about them. Make sure that these concepts are clearly defined and carefully considered, for their quiz work and exams will be taken from these items directly. This section is instrumental in enabling your students to move from the mere analytical consideration of the facts of the case to the more creative application in their own lives of the implications of the material. Your task at this point in the session is to empower your students to wrestle with the facts of their own situations, and identify the most pressing and promising issues that relate directly to their questions and interests. The questions below, therefore, are meant to launch the students into an exploration of their own issues, ideas, and questions. What is significant here is not your demanding that they deal with the questions written below, but rather for you through dialogue with them to lead them to an engagement with the cadre of issues, concerns, questions, and ideas that flow directly from their experience, and relate to their lives and ministries. Do not hesitate, then, to spend the majority of the time on any one question that may arise from their consideration of the video material, their discussions, or even some special concern that is especially relevant in their ministry context right now. The goal of this section is for you to enable them to think critically and theologically in regards to their lives and ministry contexts. Again, the questions
