b. Mark 15.15 – So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
c. Luke 23.23 – But they were urgent, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified. And their voices prevailed.
5. Pilate’s presentation of Jesus for crucifixion – irony or prophecy: Behold your King! , 19.14.
a. John 1.49 – Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”
b. John 12.13 – So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!”
c. John 12.15 – “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt!”
d. John 18.33 – So Pilate entered his headquarters again and called Jesus and said to him, “Are you the King of the Jews?”
6. Pilate’s question the chilling answer of the crowds: “Shall I crucify you King?” “We have no king but Caesar!” , 19.15.
a. The promise of the One to whom the throne will belong, Gen. 49.10 – The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until tribute comes to him; and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.
