Ses s i on 8: The Cruc i f i ed Ki ng, the R i sen Lord, and the True Tes t imony 229

Conclusion and Review of the Major Concepts of Chapters 19-21

• Jesus of Nazareth is the Crucified King of Israel, the One who willingly laid down his life as the Savior of humankind and the Victor over the principalities and powers. • On the third day after his death, the same Jesus who was crucified was raised from the dead. He is the Risen Lord, the exalted King who has now been glorified by the Father and vindicated as the Messiah through his death, burial, and resurrection. • The testimony of our Lord Jesus as raised and glorified is anchored in the eyewitness testimony of the disciples, to whom Jesus personally gave undeniable proofs of his resurrection. The apostles provide us as believers with the True Testimony, the clear and authoritative witness that Jesus of Nazareth is in fact the Messiah of God.
