A. Jesus declares the coming of the Holy Spirit, John 7.37-39

1. Invitation to spiritual refreshment from the Messiah: John 7.37-38 – On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. [38] Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”

a. Isa. 44.3 – For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring , and my blessing on your descendants.

b. Isa. 55.1 – Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters ; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

c. John 4.10 – Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water .”
