Section III: How Do We Guard the Good Deposit? • 53

What hope is there in such a situation? Christ appeared to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3.8), and those who believe in him have victory and freedom by faith (1 John 5.4). Now, we are children of the light (1 Thess. 5.5), the very light of the world, a city set on a hill (Matt. 5.14), under the power of God (Acts 26.18), in the kingdom of the Son (Col. 1.14), and heirs of eternal life (Titus 3.7). If there is to be any hope for those still trapped under the power of the evil one, we must let our light shine in the world (Matt. 5.16). We must represent the Lord. We need to represent because we have been entrusted with the words of eternal life. God desires that everyone would come him (2 Pet. 3.9). This means that every man, woman, boy, and girl you see needs the Gospel. You will never encounter a human being that God does not love. He wants them all! We need to represent Christ because it is through us that God is making his appeal for salvation to the world. We are his ambassadors (2 Cor. 5.20). The Gospel is the power of God for salvation and it has been entrusted to us (Rom. 1.16). Let us not be shy with the Gospel but let us speak boldly as we ought to (Eph. 6.20). Let the redeemed of the Lord say so (Ps. 107.2)!
