O LORD God, whose precious Son Jesus of Nazareth taught his disciples the true meaning of your Law over against the religious leaders of his day, so now through your Spirit teach us anew the truth of your kingdom teaching, in order that we might rightly divide your Word and truly obey your will in all things. Through Jesus our Lord, amen. Affirmation for the Day Sunday: The Law of Christ calls us to a deeper and fuller righteousness than any written commandment. Monday: The Law said, “Do not murder,” but Christ says do not be angry and insult others. Tuesday: The Law said, “You shall not commit adultery,” but Christ says that we should control our lusts. Wednesday: The Law said, “Whoever divorces must give a certificate of divorce,” but Christ says it is better not to divorce at all. Thursday: The Law said, “Do not swear falsely,” but Christ says be a trustworthy and honest person. Friday: The Law said, “An eye for eye,” but Christ says we should act with mercy and love. Saturday: Only Christ’s righteousness is perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect.
