WEEK 18 F ifth S unday in L ent March 26 - April 1, 2023

The Lenten Season, a forty-day period starting on Ash Wednesday and ending on Holy Saturday of Holy Week, calls us to reflect on Jesus’s suffering, crucifixion, and death. As disciples of the humble Nazarene, we embrace his lowliness and humility, seeking to share the mind of himwho was obedient to death, even death on a cross.

THIS WEEK’S THEME The Spirit of God in Us, Romans 8.6-11

Paul said that to set the mind on the flesh would bring death, but to set the mind on the Spirit would be both life and peace. Those who live according to their fleshly nature simply cannot please God. On the other hand, if we are in the Spirit we are not in the flesh, for the Spirit of God indwells us. If we do not have God’s Spirit, we do not belong to Christ. If Christ indwells us by his Spirit, our body has been rendered dead to sin, and now the Holy Spirit leads us into life because of righteousness.

D aily D evotional G uide P reparing O ur H earts Invocation: Our Prayer of Acclamation

Holy Spirit of God, Lord and Life-giver, he who indwells all who believe by faith in the Lord Jesus, fill us and complete us in the will of God. Reveal the things of Christ to us, and conform our will to his holy pattern that in all things we may glorify the Father. We yield ourselves to you in order that your power and life might be seen in us and through us, for Christ’s sake. Amen.
