In addition, EPIC Christians can see their vocation as their number one ministry, not just a way to make a living. Those who gain this perspective, seeing themselves as agents of the Kingdom, will care for people in workplaces that historically have not been thought of as Kingdom locations. A believer’s presence brings the Kingdom into it . The Bored An EPIC perspective changes bored people into totally wild spirits, whose lives are characterized by new opportunities. Boredom is a sign of cropping Jesus from the picture ; of compartmentalizing life in the secular versus sacred; the inside versus outside . Bored Christians have made their personal fulfillment the SUBJECT . Because of this, the bored are not “free in Christ” because they are dependent on diversions. They need relationships or activities that provide meaning and comfort, such as recreation, entertainment, shopping, or food. Freedom in Christ means believers are encouraged to enjoy all good things without guilt, but are content with, or without such diversions. Since all their needs are met in Christ, they are free to enjoy recreation or food, without being dependent upon them. Such diversions are neither evil nor important. The Busy An EPIC view can free busy, burned-out, overworked believers from fulfilling their duty through “spiritual activities.” Guilt is probably a sign of taking on more than God intends, living under the law rather than by grace. “Busy” people are not free in Christ because they depend on their own performance to provide meaning or comfort. Freedom in Christ means believers are free to work hard for Christ, but are
