We issue to you the sober call to prevailing prayer: do you catch the sense of how significant your contribution can be if you only devote yourself to unbroken, unwaver- ing, faith-filled entreaty to God on behalf of one of the greatest and most difficult mission fields in the world? We issue to you the sober call to prevailing prayer : will you allow God, the Holy Spirit, to train you to become a warrior in the spiritual realm, laying hold of God in intercession on behalf of a Church that is slumbering and needs to be awakened, and a world that is dying and needs to hear of God’s life-giving and in-breaking reign won for us through Jesus Christ and his death on the cross?

Only God can renew his people. Only God can save the city.

Let us meet in holy agreement, whether two or three (Matt. 18.20) or an entire gallery of petitioners (2 Chron. 20), to seek the Lord and entreat the favor of the Lord on behalf of the city. Let us do so in our individual prayer closets, our cell groups and small group studies, in our congregations and church services, in our prayer meetings and convocations, in our concerts of prayer – in vigils, retreats, homes, schools – wherever the Lord
