Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” [44] Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. [45] Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

E. Growing up in a good home: the congregation where follow-up occurs

1. Encourages membership, identification with a local assembly of believers, Heb. 10.24-25 – And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, [25] not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

2. Provides immediate, consistent contact and relationship after decision to follow Christ, 1 Thess. 2-3

3. Feeds new converts on sound doctrine and Christ-centered biblical teaching, 2 Tim. 3.16-17

4. Fosters good, godly friendships

a. Those who equip and teach, 2 Tim. 2.2 – and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
