c. The same one would be the king of his people, Jer. 23.5-6 – Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. [6] In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: “The Lord is our righteousness.”

2. Jesus of Nazareth is the fulfillment of this promise for the Messiah.

a. He is the son of Abraham, and David, Matt. 1.1.

b. He is the seed of the woman, Gal. 3.8-9 – And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” [9] So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

c. He was confessed as the Messiah, God’s Son, Matt. 16.15-16 – He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” [16] Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

3. Jesus came preaching that God’s promised Kingdom had arrived in his person, i.e., “the Kingdom is at hand,” Mark 1.14-15.
