Tasty Rhythm Practice: Two Stacks of Pies

as you go. For instance, for the “Apple” measure you would sound, “Pie - apple - pie - pie” by either counting, tapping, or singing as you play. Once you master the division, you may substitute all beats in the measure for that pie (e.g., instead of “Pie - apple - pie - pie” you would say “Apple - apple - apple - apple,” maintaining the right tempo).

One of the easiest ways to master rhythm is to divide its beats up into various segments using the names of pies. Sounding out the names represents the division of the beats.
