effective weapon against the lies and machinations of the enemy (2 Cor. 10.3-5; Eph. 6.10-18).
b. Strongly resist the temptation to give in to arguments regarding the “impossibility” of some students’ ability to memorize the Word. Gently encourage them to continue, to ask the Spirit for help, to develop ongoing, disciplined habits of review and recitation. Remember, leaders in the Church of God know his Word. Challenge them not to give up or give in to the struggle. Encourage them to try different memorization methods, to pray for God’s grace and help in this, and to keep at it. The Lord will reward them. c. The Scripture Memory Grading Form should be provided to your students at the beginning of class. (See the sample in the Appendix, and find a printable version at www.tumi.org/ mentor .) d. In order to fulfill their credit requirements for their courses, the students will need to memorize and self-grade select Scripture passages that relate to the theme of the course. They are allowed the equivalent of one mistake per verse for full credit. Additionally, they are allowed the equivalent of two mistakes per verse for one-half credit. If they make more errors than those allowed, they receive no credit for their assignment. (Punctuation and misspellings do NOT count as mistakes.)
e. The students must grade their own verses and record their credit amount in order to receive credit for this assignment.
