The Foundations for Ministry Series
The faculty and staff of The Urban Ministry Institute are dedicated to providing urban churches and their leaders with the most affordable, biblically based, and culturally sensitive theological resources available. Our attention at our national headquarters concentrates on developing practical, biblical and user-friendly ministry tools for leaders in urban churches. We currently have a wide array of theological resources all of which have been designed with the needs and opportunities of urban church leaders in mind. Two of our premier resources are our Capstone Curriculum and our Foundations for Ministry Series . Our Foundations for Ministry Series are materials drawn directly from courses which our professors have taught at our Wichita-based Hope School of Ministry . We have reformatted these courses for distance education use and are now making them available to urban churches and ministry training sites throughout the country. Here at The Urban Ministry Institute we are dedicated to facilitating leadership development among urban churches, and intend to produce a wide variety of resources, events, and programs to help in this vision. Please check our website ( www.tumi.org ) for a complete listing of our current leadership development resources, as well as for updates on new and future resources that we will soon develop and make available for your use. The topics and materials covered in our Foundations for Ministry Series courses are foundational to effective urban ministry and will prove invaluable to anyone seeking to equip leaders in their cities. These courses are self-directed studies created to help individual learners and/or study groups take advantage of quality theological instruction at an affordable price. For your convenience, we have divided each Foundations for Ministry Series course into eight lessons so that two courses fit the educational “semester” system. We structured the Foundations Series courses so they can be taught in sixteen classroom hours, surpassing the well-accepted “CEU” (Continuing Education Unit) standards. (This allows for great flexibility in using the materials in your environ- ment, over seminar, workshop, or multi-day teaching formats).
