The Capstone Curriculum does not require a separate Course Syllabus but we ask that you create a sheet for the students that shows the dates of class meetings, which lessons will be covered at each meeting, and due dates for assignments (see Sample Class **Contact and Connection sections are explained in “The Approach to Lessons: Contact, Content, Connection” found on pages 62-63 of this Mentor’s Manual. Every Capstone Curriculum module comes with a “Mentor’s Guide” that gives teaching helps for each lesson including: the lesson objectives, overview of student materials, and sugges- tions for planning and teaching the Mentor’s portion of that lesson. Schedule Chart in the Appendix).

1. Plan and lead classes using TUMI’s Capstone Curriculum or Foundations for Ministry Series courses.

a. Before the course:

(1) Thoroughly familiarize yourself with the Mentor’s Guide, Student Workbooks, and audio or video presentation materials that make up the course you are teaching. (2) Work with your Site Coordinator to plan your Course Schedule Sheet*, and make sure that necessary student materials (workbooks, textbooks, etc.) will be available for your first class session.

b. For each lesson:

(1) Take attendance.

(2) Administer quizzes and classwork/homework.

(3) Play the audio or video teaching segment and answer student questions.

(4) Plan and teach the “Contact” and “Connection” portion of lessons.**

2. Emphasize consistently the importance of faithful attendance, class participation, and completion of work.

3. Evaluate any materials, projects, or tests that are assigned as they are due. At the end of the course, calculate final grades and report them to the Site Coordinator.
