A key component of his strategy to train the many leaders that are emerging is The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI). The Urban Ministry Institute ensures that all of his leaders, whatever their background, are getting the kind of theological education they need for faithful ministry in the churches they are planting. All of Hector’s church planters in training [apprentices] are taking classes at The Urban Ministry Institute. Hector himself has been involved as a mentor at The Urban Ministry Institute and sees TUMI as vital if the church planting movement he is believing God for is going to take place. Hector’s ministry continues to expand. Recently he was on local television asking LA’s Mayor about his plans for the homeless in downtown LA. New associations of urban churches are being formed under his leadership in LA County. Besides his local ministry, Hector has preached and done evangelism in many countries including: Mexico, Cuba, Guatemala, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Senegal, Liberia and Sierra Leone. God’s choice in leadership selection may surprise us, but he is indeed being glorified through urban leaders like Rev. Hector Cedillo, and the communities of the King which are being planted in America’s inner cities. I catch up with Hector on Facebook and I am thrilled and encouraged to say he is still “moving forward to multiply.”
