is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. [19] For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell.
1. The Lord God is he who exalted the Lord Jesus.
2. In all things, Christ Jesus is to have the absolute preeminence.
3. One day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glorious praise of Almighty God, the Father.
C. He is Lord of the harvest.
Matt. 9.35-38 (ESV) – And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. [36] When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. [37] Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; [38] therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matt. 10.1 (ESV) – And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction John 20.20-21 (ESV) --When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side.
