Mission with Prophetic Power: The Journal of John Woolman

Woolman repeatedly discovered that he was a bit different than others. While others were easy* keeping slaves, Woolman considered

the practice wrong. While others had no problem paying taxes that supported the war effort, Woolman could not pay those taxes in good conscience. He knew he was not like the crowd, even among other Friends that he respected. He lived a plain life. As you will find out later in this book, he eventually chose to dress different. And he had to learn to live with this, graciously, in the presence of God and others. This takes the development of some careful interpersonal habits. Do you know someone who is a bit different than the rest? Are there aspects of your own life that are different than others? How do we learn to live with this?
