Mission with Prophetic Power: The Journal of John Woolman (SRSC 12)
Chapter 4: The Ministry of Visitation to Individuals (1757–1759)

It is striking to me to think that Woolman’s success at turning the attitude of the Society of Friends regarding slavery was accomplished
not merely by meetings or writings, but especially by visiting people one-on-one with whom he disagreed—the power of Christ-centered persuasion. And when we read Woolman’s Journal we see him developing a set of habits that governed his meetings with others: he tried to see things from the other’s point of view; he considered the content of a visit before it happened (preparation); he prayed. What small habits might you consider as you seek to grow in godly conflict?
