Tuition and Fees As a satellite of The Urban Ministry Institute you have great freedom to determine what to charge your students for tuition in each course. It is important to remain affordable to the students who can least afford this kind of ministry education while still covering the costs of your ministry overhead. You have several basic options for invoicing your students. You may decide to select a basic tuition fee that you charge each student for each course, or you may want to charge each student for each course based on a sliding scale.

Please note:

All required textbooks are the responsibility of the student (costs vary depending upon the course). Tuition, student fees and textbook rental or purchase costs must be paid in full on the first week of class.

For instance, at our courses held at The Urban Ministry Institute in Wichita, we charge our students based on their income. Listed below is an example of our fees:

Annual Household Income

Tuition Per Credit Hour

Application Fee (one time)

Registration Fee

Workbook and Materials Fee

Category A

Up to $20,000

Category B

Tuition for a 2-credit hour course for a Category A student - $20; Category B - $50; CategoryC-$80

While your fees and tuitionmay greatly vary, this example shows our commitment to keeping this unique leadership training inexpensive and accessible to urban students. You may determine your own sliding scale. Use wisdom and discretion. Not charging enough will cheapen what you do; charging too much will make the course prohibitive to those who cannot afford it. We suggest, however, that you do not charge less than what you need to help cover your own costs or too much more than what your costs are. Be just and fair – informed by a desire to keep this education as affordable as possible. Please note that this is the tuition and fees only. This charge does not include the cost of required textbooks. You will need to order these books (see Appendix 18.3) and charge the students for the cost of these books in addition to their tuition and fees on their invoice.
