Our Strategy The staff and faculty of The Urban Ministry Institute wholeheartedly believe that God is raising up in significant numbers men and women among the urban poor who serve his Kingdom in extraordinary ways, all across the nation. We desire to provide the most excellent, affordable, and accessible training that will result in a new generation of equipped men and women, able to disciple and build Christian community in Wichita and around the world, all for God’s glory. Because of this vision, our focus is on providing missionaries, lay pastors, ministers in training, and urban church leaders with the necessary resources to do effective urban ministry. While we do give considerable attention to providing resources to urban churches to help them ground new and growing Christians in Christ, the heart of our vision is to equip leaders for the urban church. This entails two things: 1) providing new and emerging Christian leaders and workers in urban churches with the essential theological resources and support necessary for effective urban ministry, and 2) to provide ongoing investment for seasoned urban church leaders who intend to both sharpen their own ministries and train others for ministry as well (please see the following appendices for our structure and strategy).
