Session 2: No Retreat • 51

b. Luke 18.1-8, cf. v. 1 – And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.

c. Rom. 12.1-2 – I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. [2] Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

d. Luke 21.36 – But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.

When Tempted to Quit, Remember What Jesus Did for Us

May nothing entice me till I happily make my way to Jesus Christ! Fire, cross, struggles with wild beasts, wrenching of bones, mangling of limbs – let them come to me, provided only I make my way to Jesus Christ. ~ Ignatius of Antioch

Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

~ Hebrews 12.3

A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. [25] It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.

~ Matthew 10.24-25
