lies, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side of the Jordan.
C. Joshua had no regrets as revealed in his farewell exhortation and challenge to the leaders and people: Joshua fought for as long as he needed to get the job done – no excuses, no complaints, no regrets, Josh. 23-24.
1. Joshua’s lack of regret is revealed in Joshua’s address to the elders, heads, judges, officers, and leaders, Josh. 23.
a. God has fought for you in the past: Now old and advanced in years, he reminded them of what the Lord had done, Josh. 23.3 – And you have seen all that the LORD your God has done to all these nations for your sake, for it is the LORD your God who has fought for you. b. God will fight for you in the future: the same Lord who kept his promises up till now will continue to fulfill them in the future, Josh. 23.5 – The LORD your God will push them back before you and drive them out of your sight. And you shall possess their land, just as the LORD your God promised you.
2. Joshua gives the leaders three powerful exhortations, and one assurance.
a. Exhortation #1: Be very strong to keep and to do all that is written in the Word of God, 23.6-7.
b. Exhortation #2: Cling to the Lord your God who fights for you, 23.8-10.
c. Exhortation #3: Love the Lord your God, and never turn back to human strength or false gods, 23.11-13.
