T he S eason after E piphany

Fifth Sunday after the Epiphany February 6 - 12, 2022

WEEK 11

Epiphany affirms Jesus’s presence in the world as hope for all peoples. In him alone, God provides the light of his salvation, making known God’s grace to all peoples, even to the farthest corners of the earth.

THIS WEEK’S THEME Becoming Fishers of Men, Luke 5.1-11

When Jesus told Simon Peter to “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch,” Simon was skeptical. When he obeyed the Lord, they caught so many fish that their nets began to break. All those with Simon, including James and John, the sons of Zebedee and Simon’s partners, were astonished at the catch. Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” When they brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Jesus.

Daily Devotional Guide Preparing Our Hearts

Invocation: Our Prayer of Acclamation Eternal God our Father, grant us the vision to see what our true vocation is in life, as disciples of the Nazarene: to catch people alive, releasing them for the freedom and joy that is in Christ. Develop us into the fisher-folk that can catch others that Christ might liberate them! In Jesus’s name, amen.
