Benediction Father in Heaven, who through thy Spirit art ever present in the lives of men, seeking them for thyself, rebuking their sinfulness, and inspiring them to every right desire, and every effort after truth: mercifully grant that all who seek thee through Jesus Christ may have communion with thee, by obedience, by prayer, and by fellowship together in one Spirit; and by the same Spirit give power unto all who ask it; give them victory over all evil; and transform them into the likeness of thy Son; unto whom, with thee and the Holy Spirit, be glory and praise ever world without end. Amen. ~ James Ferguson, in James Ferguson and Charles L. Wallis, eds. Prayers for Public Worship: A Service Book of Morning and Evening Prayers Following the Course of the Christian Year. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1958. p. 196. Affirmation for the Day Sunday: All who have the Spirit of God are children of God with Christ. Monday: We did not receive a spirit of slavery. Tuesday: We are adopted by the Father. Wednesday: We cry, “Abba! Father!” to God Almighty. Thursday: The Holy Spirit bears witness to our adoption. Friday: We share as heirs in Christ’s inheritance. Saturday: After we suffer with Christ, we will be glorified with him.
