WEEK 35

During “Ordinary Time” (Kingdomtide), we consider God’s saving acts through the unfolding of our days. As Christus Victor, Jesus is exalted at God’s right hand, and he must reign until his enemies are put under his feet. He is the head of the body, the Church, and now he empowers his people to bear witness of his saving grace in the world.

THIS WEEK’S THEME His Life in Us: A Shared Life in Common Live a Baptized Life, Romans 6.1-5

The Christian life is the baptized life, united with Christ. Truly, the power of Christian baptism is our link with Jesus Christ, our identification with his Story, our sharing with his life, death, burial, and resurrection, and one day soon, his glory. To be a Christian means, for the rest of our lives, a union and oneness with Christ, a participation in his life. Now, his life is our life, and his purpose, our purpose.

Invocation: Our Prayer of Acclamation Grant, O Lord, that all who are baptized into the death of Jesus Christ your Son may live in the power of his resurrection and look for him to come again in glory; who lives and reigns now and forever. Amen.
