Departing to Serve

Benediction Eternal God, heavenly Father, you have graciously accepted us as living members of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ, and you feed us with spiritual food in the Sacrament of his Body and Blood. Send us now into the world in peace, and grant us strength and courage to love and serve you with gladness and singleness of heart; through Christ our Lord. Amen. ~ Adapted from The Book of Common Prayer , 1979 ed. Affirmation for the Day Sunday: The Lord’s Table is the heart and summit of the church’s life together and the central act of our ongoing spiritual life. Monday: The Lord’s Supper reenacts part of the Passover meal from the night Jesus was betrayed. Tuesday: The Passover foreshadows the Lord’s Supper. Wednesday: The Lord’s Supper is a remembrance of Christ. Thursday: In a manner that is mysterious, Christ is present in the elements of the Supper. Friday: The Lord’s Supper is a meal that nourishes and strengthens the Church. Saturday: The Lord’s Supper is a foretaste of the great heavenly banquet in the age to come.
