Epiphany commemorates the coming of the Magi, the wise men from the East who followed the star in search of the Christ child. This season emphasizes Christ’s mission to the Gentiles and his claim of salvation for the world.

THIS WEEK’S THEME And He Manifested His Glory, John 2.1-11

Jesus attended a wedding in Cana of Galilee with his disciples and Mary, his mother. When the wedding party prematurely ran out of wine, Jesus told the servants to fill six large water jars to the brim. Jesus asked them to draw some out and take it to the master of the feast. The servants took it, and the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine. The master, not knowing where the wine came from then told the bridegroom that he had kept the good wine until now. Jesus manifested his glory and his disciples believed in him.

Invocation: Our Prayer of Acclamation Eternal God our Father, whose Son can turn water into wine and who can transform the mundane into the miraculous, grant us eyes through the Holy Spirit to see Jesus as he truly is – the Lord from heaven, the glory of Israel, and head of the Church.
