Departing to Serve

Benediction Truly, dear Savior and Lord, it must have been a shock to your friends and neighbors to hear your testimony that the words of Isaiah were fulfilled in their hearing that morning. Let us cling to your testimony, affirming in our hearts that you are the Christ, the Son of the Living God, come to liberate, heal, and transform us all. Make it so in our lives today, amen. Affirmation for the Day Sunday: The Spirit of the Lord anointed Jesus as Messiah to proclaim God’s salvation for the poor and the needy. Monday: The Lord Jesus ministered throughout his ministry in the power and leading of the Holy Spirit. Tuesday: Jesus fulfilled the messianic prophecy as God’s Spirit-enabled anointed one bringing in his Kingdom. Wednesday: Jesus was anointed to proclaim good news to the poor, liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind. Thursday: The Holy Spirit anointed Jesus to set at liberty those who are oppressed. Friday: Jesus came proclaiming the year of the Lord’s favor. Saturday: Jesus is God’s Messiah who liberates creation from Satan’s dominion and sin’s tyranny.
