Picturing Theology, Revised Edition
180 | Picturing Theology, Revised Edition
This amended version of the original Nicene Creed (technically the Nicene Constantinopolitan Creed) is commonly referred to simply as the “Nicene Creed” since it is the final version of the statement started at Nicea. It is accepted by Catholics, Orthodox 2 , and Protestant Christians alike as the summary of scriptural teaching which separates orthodoxy from heresy.
2 Although the Orthodox do not include the phrase “and the Son” (which was added at a later date) in the statement about the Spirit proceeding from the Father.
