2. On this confession the Church of Jesus Christ is built.

1 Cor. 3.10-11 (ESV) – According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

3. Not even the gates of hell can withstand the onslaught of the Kingdom’s advance through the Church of Jesus Christ.

a. Our station and security are immovable.

Ps. 125.1 (ESV) – Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

b. No weapon formed against us shall stand.

Isa. 54.17 (ESV) – . . . no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.

c. Nothing can separate the church from the love of God.

Rom. 8:33-39 (ESV) – Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died – more than that, who was raised – who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
