In this last lesson we explored the concept of biblical exhortation. In a world filled with fractured relationships, immoral visions, and ungodly practices, the Church of Jesus Christ is called to be a holy people, and as we edify one another in exhortation, God is glorified. God has given his Spirit-filled leaders the high charge to build up and watch over his people, and exhort them to be faithful to his call. In our next lesson, we will deal with our final dimension of practical Christian leadership in this module, that is, the role of the Christian leader as an effective biblical counselor. We will view the Christian counselor as God’s Physician. In the same way a compassionate physician cares for the body of a patient, so a spiritual counselor seeks to care for the soul and life of the person he cares for. We will also explore how we can learn to become better care givers for those encountering the dark side of life, trials, tribulations, and distress.
