a. Profitable for teaching : laying out for us God’s good, acceptable, and perfect will, Rom. 12.1

b. Profitable for reproof : helping us know in what way our actions have deviated from God’s will

c. Profitable for correction : instructing us how to remedy our deviations and transgressions from his will

d. Profitable for training in righteousness : building us up so we will respond righteously and obediently in future trials and tests

B. The Christian leader as God’s physician is aware of the pain of others: the need for genuine compassion of the hurting

1. Love is the greatest commandment, that which fulfills all the will of God, and serves as the foundation of all genuine people helping, Matt. 22.36-40.

2. A leader who lacks compassion for others will not be moved to care properly for them, 1 Cor. 13.1-3.

3. All love that we show others is based on the love that we ourselves have received from the Lord, 1 John 4.7-10.
