person. Encourage your students to become fully mature in Jesus Christ, and to be willing to pay the requisite price in discipline, self-sacrifice, and obedience to attain to that level of excellence and maturity.

The memorized Word carries with it deep promises of blessing, benefit, and fruitfulness in the life of a follower of Jesus Christ, and is an indispensable weapon in the arsenal of the man or woman of God in ministry. Ps. 119.9-11 - How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. [10] With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! Job 22.22 - Receive instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart.

Ps. 37.31 - The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip.

Ps. 40.8 - I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.

Ps. 119.97 - Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.

Jer. 15.16 - Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Lord, God of hosts. Col. 3.16 - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. If at all possible, memorize the Scriptures with the students, and challenge them to be faithful in their review of the verses, which is the key to ensuring that they not only keep them, but also allow the Holy Spirit to bring these texts to their remembrance. (It will be easier for the Spirit to bring them back if they are hidden in the heart already.)
